Papua New Guinea Imperatae Rhizome
Product Description
This product is the dried rhizome of Imperata cylindrica Beauv. var. major (Nees) C. E. Hubb. of the Poaceae family. It is dug in spring and autumn. After being washed and sun-dried, the fibrous roots and membranous leaf sheaths are removed, and then it is bundled into small bunches.
**Properties, Flavors and Meridian Tropisms**
Sweet in flavor, cold in nature. It pertains to the lung, stomach and bladder meridians.
**Functions and Indications**
Cools the blood and stops bleeding, clears heat and promotes diuresis. It is used for hematemesis due to blood heat, epistaxis, hematuria, restlessness and thirst caused by febrile diseases, jaundice due to damp heat, edema with oliguria, and painful stranguria with heat symptoms.
