Product Description
This product is the dried root of Bupleurum chinense DC. or Bupleurum scorzonerifolium Willd. of the Umbelliferae family. According to different characteristics, they are commonly known as "Northern Bupleurum Root" and "Southern Bupleurum Root" respectively. They are dug in spring and autumn. After removing the stems, leaves and sediment, they are dried.
**Properties, Flavors and Meridian Tropisms**
Pungent, bitter in flavor, slightly cold in nature. It pertains to the liver, gallbladder and lung meridians.
**Functions and Indications**
Disperses pathogenic factors and reduces fever, soothes the liver and relieves depression, raises yang qi. It is used for fever caused by common cold, alternating chills and fever, distending pain in the chest and hypochondrium, irregular menstruation, uterine prolapse, and rectal prolapse.
