Product Description

This product is the fresh or dried tuberous root of Rehmannia glutinosa Libosch. (Scrophulariaceae). It is dug in autumn. After removing the rhizome apex, fibrous roots and sediment, it can be used fresh; or the fresh Rehmannia glutinosa can be slowly baked until it is about 80% dry. The former is commonly known as "Fresh Rehmanniae Radix", and the latter is commonly known as "Dried Rehmanniae Radix". 

**Properties, Flavors and Meridian Tropisms**
Fresh Rehmanniae Radix: Sweet, bitter in flavor, cold in nature. It pertains to the heart, liver and kidney meridians.
Dried Rehmanniae Radix: Sweet in flavor, cold in nature. It pertains to the heart, liver and kidney meridians.

**Functions and Indications**
Fresh Rehmanniae Radix: Clears heat and promotes fluid production, cools blood and stops bleeding. It is used for yin injury caused by febrile diseases, crimson tongue with restlessness and thirst, macules caused by warm-toxic pathogens, hematemesis, epistaxis, and swelling and pain of the throat. 
Dried Rehmanniae Radix: Clears heat and cools blood, nourishes yin and promotes fluid production. It is used for heat invading the nutrient and blood systems, macules caused by warm-toxic pathogens, hematemesis, epistaxis, yin injury caused by febrile diseases, crimson tongue with restlessness and thirst, fluid consumption leading to constipation, yin deficiency fever, consumptive fever due to yin deficiency, internal heat and thirst.
