This product is the dried tuber of Corydalis yanhusuo W. T. Wang, a plant of the Papaveraceae family. It is dug when the stems and leaves wither in early summer. After removing the fibrous roots and washing them clean, it is boiled or steamed in boiling water until there is just no white core left inside. Then it is taken out and dried in the sun.
