Costa-Rica Atractylodes Rhizome
Product Description
This product is the dried rhizome of Atractylodes macrocephala Koidz. of the Asteraceae family. It is dug in winter when the lower leaves turn yellow and wither and the upper leaves become brittle. After removing the sediment, it is dried by baking or sun-drying, and then the fibrous roots are removed.
**Properties, Flavors and Meridian Tropisms**
Bitter and sweet in flavor, warm in nature. It pertains to the spleen and stomach meridians.
**Functions and Indications**
Strengthens the spleen and replenishes qi, dries dampness and promotes diuresis, stops sweating and prevents miscarriage. It is used for poor appetite due to spleen deficiency, abdominal distension and diarrhea, dizziness and palpitation caused by phlegm-fluid retention, edema, spontaneous sweating, and restlessness of the fetus.
