Product Description
This product is the fresh or dried above-ground part of Leonurus japonicus Houtt. (Lamiaceae). The fresh product is harvested from the seedling stage in spring to the pre-flowering period in early summer. The dried product is harvested when the stems and leaves are lush in summer, either before or at the beginning of flowering. It is then sun-dried or cut into sections and sun-dried.
**Properties, Flavors and Meridian Tropisms**
Bitter, pungent in flavor, slightly cold in nature. It pertains to the liver, pericardium and bladder meridians.
**Functions and Indications**
Promotes blood circulation and regulates menstruation, promotes diuresis and reduces swelling, clears heat and removes toxins. It is used for irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, incomplete lochia discharge, edema with oliguria, and sores and toxic swellings.
