Product Description

This product is the dried root of Glehnia littoralis Fr. Schmidt ex Miq. (Umbelliferae). It is dug in summer and autumn. After removing the fibrous roots, it is washed, slightly air-dried, scalded in boiling water, then the outer skin is removed and dried. Alternatively, it can be washed and dried directly.

**Properties, Flavors and Meridian Tropisms**
Sweet, slightly bitter in flavor, slightly cold in nature. It pertains to the lung and stomach meridians.

**Functions and Indications**
Nourishes yin and clears the lungs, benefits the stomach and promotes fluid production. It is used for dry cough due to lung heat, consumptive cough with bloody sputum, insufficiency of stomach yin, fluid consumption caused by febrile diseases, dry throat and thirst.
