Product Description
This product is the dried mature fruit of Crataegus pinnatifida Bge. var. major N. E. Br. or Crataegus pinnatifida Bge. of the Rosaceae family. It is harvested when the fruit is ripe in autumn, sliced and then dried.
**Properties, Flavors and Meridian Tropisms**
Sour, sweet in flavor, slightly warm in nature. It pertains to the spleen, stomach and liver meridians.
**Functions and Indications**
Aids digestion and promotes the function of the stomach, promotes qi circulation and dissipates stasis, resolves turbidity and reduces blood lipid. It is used for food retention caused by excessive consumption of meat, fullness in the stomach cavity, abdominal pain due to diarrhea or dysentery, amenorrhea caused by blood stasis, postpartum stasis obstruction, stabbing pain in the chest and abdomen, chest pain due to chest impediment, pain in the testicles due to hernia, and hyperlipidemia. Processed Hawthorn (Jiao Shanzha) has enhanced effects of promoting digestion and removing food stagnation. It is used for food retention caused by excessive consumption of meat and incomplete diarrhea or dysentery.
